What I did for Thanksgiving

I cooked and we ate and it was very nice ... but the highlight of this Thanksgiving Day was getting to hold our week-old great-granddaughter.

How did you decorate, celebrate?

Our oldest daughter always makes the pumpkin and pecan pies and they are wonderful. My specialty is the cranberry/orange relish that I've been making for several years. We love real tablecloths and real flatware but we also love not having to wash dishes so we use paper plates.

Lessons Learned

  • That I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to start the turkey cooking. I cook it at 350 degrees for 2.5 to 5.5 hours for a 12-20 pound turkey. It was falling off the bone and so moist. I have Ina Garten to thank for this tip...a special on Google's home page last night. I've had 2 experiences with turkeys that weren't done and I'm glad to finally find a reliable way to cook any size turkey.
