Design Centers and Merchandise Markets in the United States

What you don’t know is that there are many, many resources or furniture, lighting, fabrics, flooring, cabinetry, and accessories that just aren’t available to the public. It can be very frustrating if you’re looking for a particular piece or a fabric that conveys just a certain mood.

While the Design Centers listed below are generally open “To the Trade Only,” many of them have “Open to the Public” days once a month or once a quarter. At that time, the public can get in and purchase, usually for cash, floor samples.

If you live in a major metropolitan area or are visiting, you will be amazed what wonderful and unique pieces you can find. The prices are high, as you’d expect for one-of-a-kind designer pieces. But you might feel it’s worth it.
