The owner of this room is Casey, a teen fashionista who writes about teen fashion on the web.
Casey loved her childhood space, but wanted some real color and life in her room as she became a teenager. So she went through her furniture and accessories, deterimined the colors that she wanted, and devised a plan to redecorate her room. With the plan in place, Casey's parents were all for it.
Casey planned her new room's color scheme around a bold, colorful comforter. From the print, she chose colors to paint the walls and accessorize her room. This is a great way to plan the color scheme of a room-- repeat the colors found in a dominant fabric.
We asked Casey to tell us a little bit about her project. Read what she told us.
Q. What did your room look like "before" the redecorating project?
A. Casey: "My room was great. It really was. But it was great in a pretty-pastel, sweet way that I loved when I was ten. At age fifteen and going into high school, I craved something bright and hip – and completely me.
"Since my family moved into our house, my room has been the same: pale pink walls, floral bedding, and white furniture. As I got older, I tried to add cool elements here and there, but in reality it just created a mismatched effect.
"For years I tried to talk my parents into redecorating, and this past summer they finally relented, deciding that since I was going into high school it was a great time to create a new look for my room."
