The term 'industrial' can have some homeowners running for the hills, but this look isn't as cold as it sounds. Granted, it's best for minimalists, but the look can be very comfortable and livable.
Exposed brick walls and concrete floors are mainstays of this style (think urban loft), but layer them with flat-weave rugs and pieces of art. Allow electrical cords and pipes to be seen and don't try to cover them up. Keep the color palette fairly neutral with one or two accents like bright yellow or fiery magenta. Mid-century modern furniture looks best but soften it by layering in throws and a sheepskin rug or two. Black and white photography is the perfect for accenting this look and adding interest.
