What makes something a luxury? The piece might be:

- Of extraordinary size or detail
- Original, authentic, or custom made
- Created by a well-known person or company
Things that at one time were considered common household items have been elevated in importance and are now displayed in museums and are considered treasures. Heavy silver, antique crystal, priceless furniture, and exquisite antique rugs are seen only in the homes of the wealthiest or in public buildings, protected by guards.
Even if you have unlimited financial resources, some things are just not available to buy. These rare pieces can only be seen and admired in museums.
