Definition: Crown moulding is a piece of decorative wood, resin, or moulded foam which defines the space at the corner between a wall and the ceiling above it. It is installed at an angle joining a wall to the ceiling.
The width of crown moulding is determined by the height of the walls and the size of the room. Crown mouldings measure between 3" and 20" and different sizes and shapes can be combined to create a unique piece. A traditional home would have a crown moulding of between 4" and 6".
