The key to creating a pretty fall table is in the details. Quick and Easy DIY Fall Place Cards

The sky's the limit when it comes to DIY place cards, but here are a few simple ideas to get you started.
  • Cut out some construction paper leaves and then paint or write each person's name on one. Punch a hole in it and the use ribbon in a complimentary color to tie it to each person's chair.
  • To keep things really simple use a fabric pen to write each person's name on a piece of ribbon and then tie it around a napkin placed at each setting. It's elegant, simple, and takes up no additional space.
  • Find some tiny pinecones and either leave them as is or paint them to match your table's color scheme. Then cut out a piece of thick paper and write a name on it. Stick the piece of paper in the ridges of the pinecone.
  • Find some tiny vases or eggcups and paint, glue or stick names or initials on them. Then put a few blossoms of a fall flower in them. Simple, beautiful.
  • Use construction paper to make a traditional place card (as per the photo) then add some extra embellishments like cut out leaves. You can do it free hand or find templates at craft stores or online.

Fall Place Cards with Fruit

Using fruit is fun and inexpensive. When setting your table set each one of these right in the center of the plate.
  • Take some oranges or clementines (whichever size works best) and decorate them with cloves. Press the cloves into the rind and either write each person's name or initials.
  • Apples are a great fall fruit. Find some letter stickers at a craft store and stick each person's name on one. When guests leave they can take off the stickers and eat the apple. It's very cute for brunches.
  • The rich color of pomegranates looks great with gold. Get a sparkly gold marker or glue pen and write each name on a pomegranate.
  • Nothing says autumn like gourds. Kids will have fun painting everyone's names on these funny looking fruits.

Adding place cards is easy and can add a nice personal touch to your table. You don't need to spend a lot of time or money. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.
