Details of Room Designs

Kitchen, Library, Breakfast Room, and Guest Room

From , former About.com Guide

The “Gentleman’s Retreat” was designed by Steve Stein of SLS Designs, Inc., Laguna Hills, CA. Using a color scheme of garnet red, chocolate brown, and moss green, an array of elegant faux finishes, and exquisite antiques, the Edwardian Library was transformed into a lush retreat. The designer incorporated the classic architectural details, including a 19-foot high ceiling and marble fireplace, into the design.

Bookcases along one wall were backed with a faux-painted finish that resembled handsome leather embossed with fleurs de lis. The lower panels of the wood walls were upholstered in red suede. Lush linen velvets, leather, and silks, adorned the furniture, inviting guests to stay.

The adorable “Granddaughter’s Room and Bath” were the result of the work of designer, Sheila Hupp, ASID, CID, of Lake Forest, CA. Butterflies and bunnies scattered in a color scheme of blue, yellow, and white, welcome the lucky little girl who comes here to visit.

The “Guest Room and Bath” featured sterling silver and cherry striped painted walls. This space, designed by Candace Donnell, ASID, and Pamela Green, Allied Member ASID, CID, of Laguna Hills, offers a luxurious visit and restful stay to any house guests.

An unusual 12-foot diameter round “Morning Room” with 11-foot high ceiling was designed by Linda Leach, IIDA, SID, CID, of Newport Beach, CA. An inspiring hand-painted message encircled the ceiling and the cheery color palette welcomed early-risers or those “taking tea” in this charming room.

The annual Philharmonic House of Design in Orange County, California, continues to support the Philharmonic Society’s programs and enrich the residents with inspired interior design.
