How to DIY a Canopy Bed
There are plenty of ways to DIY a canopy bed. You can attach curtain rods from the ceiling and use them as an anchor to drape fabric on either side of the bed. Attach sheer lightweight fabric from hooks or multiple rings attached to the ceiling to drape fabric around the bed. Install a track rail on the ceiling to hang sheer curtains all around the bed. Or opt for a lightweight and affordable detached crown canopy made from materials like a hula hoop or embroidery loop.
How to Determine Canopy Size
The amount of fabric needed for a bed canopy depends on a number of factors, such as the size of the bed, the height of the bed frame, and the style of canopy that you would like. A minimalist canopy that is draped across the head of the bed will require less than a more elaborate canopy that runs around the periphery or includes draping or a valance. Expect to need around 6 yards of fabric for a queen-sized canopy bed.
