When space is tight, one solution is to include some furnishings with less bulk. A traditional ottoman might seem to obstruct this area, whereas the open cross-braced legs of this version leave the rug visible. Likewise the iron and glass shelf unit allows the eye to see beyond it, making it feel less imposing.
