How to Organize Bathroom Storage

Here's how to clear the clutter from your bathroom to make it more convenient and organized.

Difficulty Level: Easy      Time Required: 10 to 60 minutes

Here's How:
  1. Bring in 2 boxes to collect items.
  2. Clear off the countertop, placing all items into one of the boxes. Continue filling the box by clearing out the contents of all medicine chests.
  3. Empty the contents of every drawer and vanity cupboard into another box.
  4. Clean everything, wiping out cupboards and shelves. Wipe dry with a towel.
  5. Starting with the medicine chest, begin to replace only items you use every day or on a frequent basis. Store essentials in these prime storage areas.
  6. Next, clean and replace countertop items, placing only the items that are used daily or are decorative.
  7. Sort often-used items into drawers, using drawer dividers if necessary to keep things neat. Categorize drawers into: hair, makeup, nails, etc.
  8. Underneath the sink place cleaning items neatly on one side. Organize extra soap and shampoo bottles on the other side.
  9. If you have room in the cabinet sort small items into see-thru plastic shoe bins with lids and stack these on a shelf.
  10. When sorting through items, evaluate everything. Do you really need 6 free samples of pink nail polish? 8 perfumes? 4 bottles of half-used hair products you disliked?
  11. Whatever is leftover in the box is probably something you no longer need or use. Carry these things to the trash.
  12. However, for anything you can't bear to part with, find a home for it in another bathroom or place it in non-essential storage (the back of the linen closet, in the garage).
  13. Step back and admire your newly organized bathroom!
Tips:
  1. Try to do this when you're alone, or at night when everyone is sleeping, so you can concentrate.
  2. Clean as you go.
  3. Remember, "when in doubt, throw it out!"
