Located on prestigious Lake Drive, the property for the 2003 Wisconsin Showhouse boasts wonderful views of Lake Michigan. Built in the 1930s, the home features a large entry area with a Mediterranean fountain under a floating staircase as well as a spacious formal living room, garden room, and coach house wing.

Over eighty designers were invited to view the home in the Fall of 2002. Each was asked to submit written plans and drawings for up to three of their first choice rooms. The showhouse design review committee then met to evaluate the requests and match a designer to each room. Working with the homeowners, designers finalized room plans and began working in the house in April.

The dining room, master bedroom, and guestroom feature pieces of the homeowner's existing furniture, though it has been reupholstered and relocated according to designers' suggestions. And since the homeowners also have two young daughters, the girls were included in choosing colors for their own bedrooms.

All of this has taken place under the watchful eye of Kevin Larkin, Design Review Committee Chair. As he coordinated finishing touches on the kitchen, directed work crews, and supervised last minute deliveries he commented that this year's showhouse exceeded everyone's expectations. "The homeowners are thrilled with the transformation," he noted. "Their biggest challenge may be to decide which furnishings to purchase from the designers after the showhouse closes, since, as you can see it turned out so well that they want almost everything to stay!"
