The Lake Forest Showcase planners were thrilled to learn about this mansion recently put up for sale and available for a design transformation. What they weren't thrilled about were some of the 1970s decorating found inside the house. Hot pink walls, orange carpeting, and unattractive aluminum storm windows were just a few of the elements begging for a makeover.

In addition the seller mandated that certain features of the home remain intact, notably the utilitarian kitchen cabinets, colored bathroom fixtures, and all architectural details. Yet designers rose to the challenge by introducing elegant colors, updated flooring, and glamorous fabrics for windows, beds, and furnishings.

From the impressive front door and two-story paneled foyer to the Venetian plastered closet and whimsical scrapbook nook, the mansion now shines in every corner. Look for beautiful drapery treatments, decorative painting, and the clever ways designers coped with existing elements.

Seven acres of impressive grounds include a spruce allee, patios, and a pond visible from the back of the home.

The mansion showcase is open now, but you'll need to hurry to visit before it closes on May 18th.
