When arranging accessories, many designers use the "Rule of ... threes". Placing an odd number of objects in an arrangement is generally more pleasing to look at than an even number. Try it yourself by setting a medium sized plant next to a lamp... then add a box or other low item to make 3 objects on the table. Which arrangement do you like better?
