Question: What should I know before I buy furniture?
Answer: Learn all you can from websites, books, magazines, and store personnel. Find out how the best furniture is made and why it costs more. The links on the furniture construction page will give you some good information.
Buy the best quality furnishings you can afford, even if you have to wait for them. Remember that some inexpensive furniture pieces, especially upholstered items and cheaply made particle board furniture, won't hold up over time and may not be the best use of your decorating budget. To start your research, see the online resources listed on the Furniture Links page.
If your budget is small, browse the Frugal Decorating page and the article "Furnishings on a Budget" for tips on creating a great look on a shoestring.
