Hanging Plates Project Instructions

Attach the plate hangers to the backs of the plates. These have springs that easily stretch to fit the plate and four hooks that clip around the edges of the plate. Each hook is vinyl coated so plates won't be scratched.

Lay a large sheet of heavy paper on the floor so you can experiment with the arrangement and spacing of the objects you wish to hang. Use a tape measure to regulate the spaces between items. Here each plate is 3 1/2" from its neighbor.

Align any horizontal lines in your objects so that they're parallel with the top of the paper. Here the top edge of the framed print is exactly 14" from the top of the paper.

Next, lift each item slightly and make a mark on the paper at the point where the item will hang. Since our arrangement is symmetrical we did this only for the 4 plates on the right, however if your arrangement is not symmetrical you'll need to mark every object's hanging point.

Now we measured to find the center point of this print that hangs in the center of the wall and of this arrangement.

Remove all items from the paper and measure in several places to find the center point of the arrangement. Fold the paper on the center line.

Once the paper is folded in half vertically, find the marks you've made. Punch a nail through the paper on those marks so that symmetrically placed objects will be perfectly aligned. Here we're punching the holes from the 3 plates on the right so they will be lined up evenly with the 3 plates on the left.
