If you're intrigued by faux painting but can't afford an experienced artist, try contacting a local art school. They may be able to refer you to a fine, but inexperienced, student painter who will jump at the chance to do the work at a reasonable price. The project will give them experience and exposure. Be sure to ask to see the student's portfolio of work so you'll be sure your tastes are in sync.
