1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is an address that's known the world over as the official residence of the First Family of the United States.

Home to just 43 families in the last 2 centuries, The White House has become a treasured icon for democracy and freedom. And at noon on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2001, this historic building became the new home of President George W. Bush.

The White House has more than 6000 visitors a day, over 100 rooms and nearly three dozen bathrooms on 4 floors (plus 2 additional basement floors). Its history is rich and fascinating, its rooms traditional and beautiful, and its entertaining lavish and exclusive.

Now, as the Bush family settles in and puts their own stamp on their new home, painters, movers, and technicians are refurbishing many of the private spaces and even the famed Oval Office. Clinton's blue, gold, and red color scheme in the Oval Office has reportedly been replaced by a new scheme of off-white, peach, and sage for George W. Bush.

To learn more about this fascinating building, try some of these sites where you can get more information on the building and history, see photos of the rooms, get bios of the new administration, or take an online tour of The White House.
