| Showhouse Report: 2003 Orange County Philharmonic House of Design | |

Designers at the 2003 Orange County Philharmonic House of Design have proved once again that decorating is in the details.
From tiny beaded embellishments to faux paint techniques, from tucked and tassled pillows to decorative painting -- the work of nineteen ASID designers shines in every corner.
The home's color scheme of cream, muted green, cinnabar red, and mahogany brown provides sedate elegance for traditionalists with punches of color and whimsey that will appeal to the young-at-heart.
The Philharmonic's House of Design, known as Chelsea Manor, is an 8,000 square foot home built in the 1980's and located in Orange County, California. The home features six bedrooms, seven baths, and a huge 1,650 square foot upstairs space that serves as a family and media room.
The home is open now through June 1, 2003, Tuesdays through Sundays from 10AM to 4PM, with extended hours on Thursdays until 8PM to meet the designers.
Special events include Tuesday 2PM sessions on English gardens, Wednesday 2pm lectures on design, and Thursday 6pm features on cutting edge design. In addition, chefs will offer Friday 2PM culinary lectures.
Tickets are available online at
PhilharmonicSociety.org or by calling 714-840-7542.

Built in the 1980's, the home had little decorating inside and has been redone from ceiling to floor.

Butler's Pantry
Cory Keith's pantry defies the adage that small rooms must be decorated in pale colors. Here rich red walls contrast with light cabinetry. The room is accessorized with a classic collection of blue and white transferware. However, the real star of this room is the ceiling, painted in shades of red from bold to dark to imitate the look of a tented ceiling.

Her Sanctuary
This space is an intimate room filled with all of her favorite things including embroidered silk, luxurious pillows, and touches of gold leaf. And when the lady of the house lounges on the velvet pillow-strewn daybed, she can gaze at this angelic faux painted sky overhead.
