Use floral foam for fresh flower arrangements (often called oasis). This container has teeth in the bottom to hold the foam.

Tip: Water the foam thoroughly before using. Soak underwater at least 20 minutes.
See instructions for using floral foam.

Candle(s) (optional)
Add 1, 2, or 3 candles to this arrangement. A large piller candle can also be used.

Tip: Taper candles should be placed 1 inch apart or more, so the heat from one candle won't melt the others. Never leave candles burning unattended.

Fresh Cedar Boughs
Cedar is a long lasting evergreen when purchased fresh and kept in water. Choose boughs that are nicely shaped, not too large, and have a fresh green color.

Evergreen stems
Use additional evergreen boughs for added interest, such as this juniper branch with blue berries.

Tip: Use a variety of sizes and shapes of greens. White pine, balsam, or Fraser fir tips make good filler. When buying a bunch to use in arrangements, choose boughs with fresh green tips on small stems.

These few stems of fall mums will be long lasting and can be cut up to make many individual flowers.

Preserved Leaves and Wheat
A small handful of preserved leaves will add a nice autumnal touch.

Tip: This centerpiece has about 15 leaves and 15 wheat stalks.

Optional leaves
For variety add a few sprigs of other leaves such as lemon leaf, camellia, ruscus, or eucalyptus.

Tip: Use evergreen and leaves from your garden if you live in a warmer climate. ©1999-2002, Glenna J. Morton - #991118GJM - FallPROJ012
