Water your fresh arrangement by lifting up the leaves in one corner. Put a fingertip into the water to see how far down it is from the top of the container. Add water very slowly with a small watering can or water bottle, using a funnel if desired. Leave your finger in place to feel water level, and stop adding water as it nears the top. Water daily!

Keep centerpiece on a platter
Placing your centerpiece on a platter will eliminate most worries of spilling water onto the table.

Strip leaves off flowers
Stripping the leaves off the bottom of all flower stems will help keep the water fresh and make it easier to insert flowers into the foam. See below for "after" photo.

Place evergreen sprigs
Place evergreens firmly into the foam. Try to put each stem in the right place the first time so the foam doesn't get cut up by many insertions.

Placing leaves
Use a few non-evergreen leaves, if desired. Remove them after Thanksgiving for a traditional holiday look as a Christmas Centerpiece. ©1999-2002, Glenna J. Morton - #991120GJM - FallPROJ011g
