If you live in a large community, another wonderful (and fun) way to get ideas is by attending a Designer Showhouse. These annual events are open to the public for several weeks to benefit a local charity.
Local interior designers donate their services in order to showcase new products, highlight their design expertise, and hopefully attract new clients, as well. The sponsoring organization charges admission, and the public gets to collect fabulous ideas and sources for decorating their own home. The admission, ranging from $10 to $25, is usually tax deductible, since the beneficiary of the collected funds is a children’s home, a symphony, or a hospital. Everyone wins!!
