Question: What is a complementary color scheme?
Answer:

A complementary color scheme uses colors across the color wheel from each other as the main focus. Here are three pairs of complementary colors:

  • red and green

  • blue and orange

  • purple and yellow

Any shade or tint of a color can be used in a complementary color scheme. Light pink (a tint of red) looks wonderful with dark green. Soft blue and peach go nicely together. Lavendar and butter yellow are a good combination.
