Do you ever look at pictures in magazines or on the Internet and think "Gee, that paint color would look great in my place"? Well don't run out and buy it. Never ever choose a paint color based on a photo. There are so many things that can affect how the color looks - the type of paper it's printed on, whether or not touchups were made in post production, the color of the monitor on your computer screen...the list goes on. If you see a paint color you like, go out and get some swatches and sample pots and try them in your space. You may find that the color that looked so great in a picture looks absolutely dreadful in your home. It may seem like a paint to test out different colors but it can save you a lot of time, effort and money.

I think this is a good tip, I have so many times seen a great color in the magazine only to buy it and be disappointed with how it looked on my walls. Great advice!
Paint can be too difficult to ever imagine in an entire room – I opt for a vinalla soup wall [some off white - some navajo - some country white] then let all the decorations adjust the theme, and colors change easily.
