There's a lot you can do to keep a room from looking dull: add layers of colors and patterns, use interesting materials, or add one or two quirky pieces that really grab your attention.
The other day I was out scouting for products and I came across this elephant side table. Now before you dismiss it as over-the-top or a little ridiculous, think about how it would look in a modern or eclectic room. It could add a whole lot of interest without delving into wild colors or patterns. Despite the shape, the white ceramic is clean, soothing and easy on the eyes.
Adding an unexpected piece like this is a great way to add interest to a room, so don't be afraid to indulge in your wild side every now and then.
